  1. Before the announcement.

  2. Teaser to trailer.

A content calendar that builds, with influencers seeded early.
  3. Release window.

Paid push and daily optimization through opening weekend.
  4. After opening.

The shift to streaming and on-demand, plus long-tail content that keeps the title alive.

Series and television

Original series, from the network to the feed

For Black History in Two Minutes (or so) we ran digital distribution, the website, social and the Webby campaigns from May 2019 through May 2022, and the series won five Webby Awards in three years. Be Woke Presents made four civic series. Time featured The Messy Truth with Van Jones, and Revolt TV picked up all 10 episodes.

Agencies, marketing partners and producers also hire us to run release campaigns under their own name.

Hidden Empire Film Group and Hyper Engine

Eight years inside a film group

From 2014 to 2022 we ran digital for Hidden Empire Film Group and its releases, and our white-label digital marketing services powered Hyper Engine, which grew into a digital marketing company that generated $4 million.

Where we started

We know both sides of the rope. Darrick toured as Kool Keith’s DJ and hype man and booked talent including Naughty by Nature, KRS-One, Lil Wayne and Ciara. Production, talent, promotion and the ticket link work as one plan, aimed at one date.

The record

Tours, shows and events

We organized the talent for every show on this list and marketed many of them, apart from the 2001 Vans Warped Tour, where Kool Keith was a booked artist and Darrick toured with him. Selling out a date that won’t move is still how we approach every launch.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you work with independent films?

Yes. Independent releases need the same launch discipline on a tighter budget.

How early should we start?

As early as possible. Three to six months before release leaves room to build an audience.

Do you buy media?

Yes. Our team handles the ad buys and delivery across digital, social, cable TV and radio, with relationships at the major cable networks and iHeartRadio. More on media buying.

What kinds of events do you produce?

Concerts, tours, club nights, exhibits, film screenings, music and film festivals, charity events and brand activations.

Can you produce the whole event?

Yes. We can run it end to end, from the venue and talent to staging, marketing and the night itself, or take on only the parts you need.

How is pricing set?

Project by project, based on the event, the talent, the date and the marketing plan.
